Joan of Arc was born around 1412, to a peasant family in northeastern part of France. She was the daughter to Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle Romée. She learned to, and was very skilled at, sewing and spinning. Joan was a very religiously driven woman, spending her days in the church, praying.
During her life, the Hundred Years' War was underway. In Particular, the siege of Orleans. Henry the IV of England and his army, along with the Duke of Burgundy, were attempting to take the town from the French occupying Orleans. The English were attempting to lay claim to the French throne.
